We are currently creating content for this section. In order to be able to keep up with our high standards of service, we need a little more time. Please stop by again. Thank you for your interest!

We will be bringing you what we hope will be interesting or inspiring news about the project. Let us know what you are doing. Are you part of a group making a quilt or many quilts! We know there are a few doing this.  Where have you got your ideas from?  Don't be shy tell us!!

Jenny Hornsey, of Basingstoke, contacted A Gift of Quilts as she wishes to make a quilt for the Olympics in memory of her father (R D Binfield).  Mr Binfield published a book "The Story of the Olympics 1948 and he represented England at a Literary Festival which ran alongside the Olympics in that year.  Mr Binfield also wrote an epic poem about the first marathon.  We felt that this summed up why people are registering and are interested in contuing the link from the last London Olympics to the 2012 Games.

A recent enquiry through our web site came from a young athlete who is going to be taking part in the Paralympics in 2012. She enquired on behalf of her grandmother who was keen to make a quilt for  A Gift of Quilts and to support the 2012 event but a better stitcher than an internet surfer!  We welcome quilts from anyone and we now have we have schools, brownies, ex-offenders, over 60's and quilters  to name but a few registered.

We hope to bring you more news about this duo and maybe look out for this young athlete in her event in 2012.

The Lunesdale Quilters meet each Tuesday afternoon (term time) in the Barbon Institute. Barbon.   We are a group of 24 plus.  Every other year we hold a quilt show for charity.  Our last event in 2008 raised over £1500 for The North West Air Ambulance.  This year our event will be held on the 14 and 15th May 2010 in Kirkby Lonsdale and will support the North West Mountain Rescue Dog Association.  We are busy preparing for this event. This is a great day out in a beautiful part of the world.    Our members are quite prolific patchworkers and one of our members is heavily involved in the Linus Project, which in turn involves our group.   We has a group are very interactive and hold workshops and support each other in individual projects.  For example in 2009 we split into two groups and each of the groups made an individual birthday block of the members choice for their birthday.  There were some amazing results much to the delight of the recipient.  But guess who got it wrong and had to do her block twice!!

Sewell Park Quilters & Patchworkers group Norfolk

We are now starting our quilt and will be keeping a record of our progress if you wish to include it in your book.

The group was formed 20 years ago and originally met in the school next to the Sewell Barn Theatre which has a connection to Anna Sewell. We have just had our first quilt exhibition and this quilt will be our third group project.

If you have a story to tell us please get in touch.
